Any woman over the age of 18 who writes—published or unpublished—may join.

Annual dues are payable when you join and on each First of May thereafter. The Treasurer will notify members who are in arrears. Those who do not pay their dues within one month of notification will be dropped from members. Inactive members will be reinstated upon payment of dues.

Any member may obtain a copy of the Bylaws and Standing Rules by contacting any Board Member.

Financial Statement
Any member may obtain a copy of our financial statement by contacting the Treasurer.

Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees oversees the administration of the organization, determines policy, and runs the various programs. The Board consists of five officers and from five to fifteen trustees. The members of the Board are elected each spring for a term from May through April.

Board Meetings are held nine times yearly at the Madison Community House, 25 Cook Avenue, Madison, at 7:30 PM. All members are welcomed to attend.

Volunteer Opportunities
Women Who Write is a member-run organization. Participation is vital to its success. The following committees welcome help at any time:

  • Group Coordinators
    Group Coordinators are essential to establishing a writing group. Each coordinator is responsible for all the business aspects of a group, including communicating with the President and the Board and keeping the group’s activities within WWW bylaws. Group coordinators may or may not lead each meeting, depending on what each group decides.
  • Education
    Women Who Write organizes writing workshops throughout the year.
  • Special Events
    Committee members help coordinate readings, workshops, social gatherings, and other special events.
  • Newsletter
    Committee members may contribute an article, copyedit, or help proofread our newsletter.
  • Literary Magazine
    Committee members read and select submissions for Goldfinch, our literary magazine.
  • Publicity
    Committee members may write press releases to publicize writing groups and special events, design flyers, or take pictures for distribution with press releases.
